Cell Phone & Smart Watch Policy
Effective January 6, 2025, a new cell phone policy will be in effect for all schools as a result of state law under the General Appropriations Bill, H. 5100 of 2024.
Cell Phone & Smart Watch Policy
The CCSD Board recognizes that, depending on how they are used, mobile communication, computer and other wireless devices can be either valuable learning tools or a source of disruption in the learning environment. In order to maintain a secure and orderly learning environment at Sullivan's Island Elementary school, student use and possession of cell phones and other wireless communication devices (ex: smart watches), shall be subject to the limitations set forth below.
CELL PHONES AND SMART WATCHES ARE NOT TO BE VISIBLE, USED, OR ACTIVATED DURING THE INSTRUCTIONAL SCHOOL DAY. THEY MUST BE KEPT IN THE "OFF" POSITION.
CELL PHONES AND SMART WATCHES MUST BE STORED IN A BACKPACK UNTIL THE CONCLUSION OF THE INSTRUCTIONAL DAY.
The instructional school day runs from 7 am until dismissal at 2:20 pm.
