Ms. Susan King, Principal
Susan King has served as principal of Sullivan’s Island Elementary for the past 22 years, bringing more than 37 years of experience in education to the role. She is deeply committed to student-centered learning and is known for her collaborative leadership and dedication to building a strong, supportive school community.
Her career has taken her to diverse educational settings across the United States and abroad, including Virginia Beach, Lima, Miami, and Charleston. Prior to her role at Sullivan’s Island Elementary, Ms. King served as both an elementary and middle school assistant principal, experiences that shaped her broad understanding of student development and school leadership.
Ms. King holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Virginia Tech and a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia. Her areas of expertise include science and gifted education.
Outside of school, Ms. King is the proud mother of two adult children and enjoys spending time with her family and exploring the natural beauty of the Lowcountry.
Mrs. Erin Wiseman, Assistant Principal
Erin Wiseman has been a dedicated member of the SIES community since 2015. Before stepping into her current role as Assistant Principal, she served as Lead Teacher, classroom teacher, and instructional coach.
Erin brings a wealth of experience from teaching 3rd through 5th grades in diverse districts including San Diego, Virginia Beach, Berkeley County, and Charleston County. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the College of Charleston and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from The Citadel.
Erin is passionate about building strong relationships, supporting teachers, and helping students grow—both in and out of the classroom. Beyond her role at SIES, she is happily married with 3 children, all three former Skimmers!
